New Zealand sends U 21s on tour of Western Australia. Western Australia against all odds wins the first game 21-15, In the return game the Kiwis avenge their first up lost 29-18. Willagee Bears secures first Grade Minor Premiership.

Western Australia take on the strong Queensland Country side at Cannington Central. In an amazing game Western Australia thru a brilliant passage of play by Robbie Sinclair and Stephen Fielding score in the final minutes to claim a 14-12 win.

1986

Applecross take out Premiership by one point over Mosman Cottesloe 11-10. The first one point win since 1969 when Applecross beat North Beach 17-16. and only one of six in the History of the game. Robbie Sollis kicked the winning goal in the first minutes of the Grand Final.

The Western Australia State team takes on all Affiliated States and win their way thru to the Qualifying game of the National Panasonic Cup against Port Moresby . Belmont take out first Premiership.

The Bicentennial Carnival brought together the various Affiliated States of Australia in a series of games ending in a combined game against Central Coast. Western Australia dominated the carnival and dominated the combined side.

1989

Belmont Steelers take out premiership against South Perth 20-16 after successes in 1987 and 1988. First three in a row since the 1960s when Applecross took out four in a row from 1964-1967. NSWRL comes to town.

All roads lead to the WACA ground as Western Australia took on the French National side. going down 16-8 , Not disgraced Western Australia served notice to the NSWRL that expansion to the West should be their next move.

The Western Australia State Team played Illawarra Steelers, NSW and Qld Country. Canning won the 1991 Premiership against Applecross. Rockingham Raiders enter the First grade competition.

Perth the tip to join Sydney competition in the biggest expansion since 1988 when the Broncos joined from Brisbane. Applecross win premiership.
